Epic

This was great, and I loved listening. The instruments sounded great, as did the patterns with them. Of course, there weren't a lot of patterns, it changed up a lot within only 2 minutes. Which is great! Kept me entertained throughout it all.

However, some of the melodies used sounded more coverish to me. As in, they've been used before, a lot of times. Also, at 1:03.. I could hear that weird bass a little loudly changing notes.. that took me away from it. It did help me finally notice the bass, and was raw at the same time, but seemed a tad unprofessional.

Vocals would help a little on this, but I never subtract points because of that.

Very good piece, and a very good start to releasing something amazing.
I'll be on the lookout!

Smooth

This is very smooth, but hits hard at the same time. I gotta say, you did real well here.

I really loved how it seemed like you kinda mixed 8-bit and real instruments in there, and it changes up a lot. I love that. I hate when the video game music is a simple loop over and over that I barely even like. I loved this one though.

Not much more I can criticize about this one. It sounded great. The violins or whatever they are near the end, were amazing! Really brought that epicness to it.

I must say though, as far as flaws go, the skipping at 5:03 killed me. Not in a good way though.

I really enjoyed listening, thank you for sharing this!

thanks mate, I might actually fix that part

Darn

I really wanted to love this piece. The melody was good, but it was way too long to stay the same throughout. If you had a nice Hip-Hop drum-beat behind it, it would be nearly perfect for me.

I did like the vocal samples a lot.

The drums are the main thing that took me away from this, the pattern you had just didn't sound very pleasing. The instruments for the drums, were ok, but the pattern could have been so much better. I've got to agree with saku, you could have added a bit more percussion between the drums.

I still would've loved a nice Hip-Hop drum beat here.

BuggMusic responds:

Damn, I really didn't realise this was repetitive while I was making it. I'm a bit confused because other people said they liked the drum beat, not sure what to do..

Hmm....

Good

I agree with Big Fish, its good but it isn't great. Nothing in this really stands out to me and hits me in the face like it should.

All the instruments used in this were good and all, just none of them really surprised me enough to say wow, that's a good song!

There was a ton of originality in this, but the main thing I didn't like was the pattern of the kickdrum. That was so unoriginal, and you hear it in almost every piece of DubStep/Dance song. After the main intro, however, the song got a lot more original.

The mastering seemed very professional, that was the best part of this song. You're good as far as you're mastering goes, in my opinion.

This just isn't a piece that stands out to me. I'm sorry, but for me, it just didn't have any OOMPH.

Finally! All I was looking for is an honest, decent review - Thanks man! :)

Simple

You have a good start here, however, this is very simple for a Classical piece. It was about the same melody almost all the way throughout. Very repetitive, which is good in some genre's, such as Hip-Hop, but not in Classical. Classical should usually tell somewhat of a story.

The mastering was ok, not perfect.

Could have blended this piece better from the intro to the middle.

The sound at about 0:45 or so was the best of the piece. Sounded amazing, a very good instrument and a very good melody. I liked all the instruments used in this, but that was the only one that really stood out to me.

All in all, I think you should really try to expand upon this.

Xyresic responds:

Thanks for the review! Those are definitely some things I will focus on on should I decide to expand the song.

Nice

I'll start this off, so we can get this out of the way. I liked the drums, although they didn't seem very powerful. I liked all those instruments. I didn't really like the guitar or bass instruments used in this. I enjoyed the high-pitched guitar, but when it was low I just couldn't get into it.

The Jingle Bells melody was off at the end of the melody. Didn't sound right, and it wasn't. The notes at the end of it were wrong. Seemed easily noticeable to me... This really upset me, cause the rest of the piece was spot-on!

Frosty the snowman sounded real good and was definitely something new for me. I loved it.

Deck The Halls was ok, sounded kind of out-of-place in a rock song to me, but you still did it very well.

Carol Of The Bells was by far the best.. but then again.. Deck The Halls always sounds righteous when transformed into rock. I hope you've seen American Dad cause this kind of sounds like the one they used in their christmas episode. Very epic one.

A nice medley I gotta say, keep it up!

Amazing

This is a very beautiful piece. I believe it belongs right where it is, Classical. Classical pieces usually do a story, and this one does seem like it fits right in there.

I absolutely loved the instruments used in this and don't have any complaints about those. Nor do I have any about the melodies. I think they all blended well together, and you blended each change very well.

My only real complaint about this, is the mastering of the volumes. When it got epic, the instruments became way too high in volume for me. As well as it could have definitely used some harder drums in there. Maybe some gongs or toms.

All in all, I loved it.

Unfinished

Ok, I liked the melodies in this. The instruments, however, I did not. I'm usually a fan of 8-bit, but I just don't think you mastered this one very well, so I'm not able to appreciate it as well.

The chirping instrument, was way too loud. So was the main instrument, but the chirping should've been a background type of deal, but it was trying to take over center stage. To be honest, I wouldn't have even added the chirping unless you were going to blend it in there, it just didn't blend very well and I think this short is better off without it so far.

Also, this is just a loop, you really need to expand upon this before I can call it a song. It leaves so much left to the ear, and that's always a bad thing in my opinion.

It did loop VERY well though.

ErlendHL responds:

Well it goes under Video Game loop. I used the basic chiptuning instruments - just regular square shapes and triangles etc. so I don't know what I could've changed there.
You're the second one saying I must lower the chirping, so I guess there must be something there. With my headphones it sounds balanced but I know how sounds can differ so much when you change sound output!
Thanks for the review! :)

Quiet

I must agree with Haggard, this needs to be mastered so much better. The volume is so low, I can barely hear it. It all seems kind of distorted.

The drums used in it also seemed clearly fake, and the snareroll was ok, but it just wasn't there for me. Neither were the instruments used.

The only instrument I enjoyed to listen to in this was the bass. That funky pattern was very entertaining.

However, this is such a short piece, I'm not really sure what much else I can say about it?

This really needs some work, but its a great start!

Haha

Not much I can say about this, other than you seem to need a bit better microphone quality.

The effects made it funny, the lines were funny, and the acting was good. Of course, it could have been better. With your ups and lows and your pauses.

Also, I believe you pronounced Jordache wrong? I'm not an English major though, ha.

Overall, funny but could have been better.

NeutralObjections responds:

Thanks for the review. :) Yes, I'm afraid I do need better equipment, and also i DID happen to pronounce Jordache wrong, as I was corrected by my Music teacher two days after. -_-

Thanks for the review, hope to have a higher level performance in the future.

Fuck your life.
